Description
The rat catcher from Hameln
A strange man appeared in the city of Hameln. He wore a robe made of colored cloth and pretended to be a pied piper. He promised to rid the city of all mice and rats for a certain amount of money. The citizens promised to pay him, and so the pied piper took out his pipe, played a tune, and all the mice and rats came out of all the houses. Then he went with them to the river, where they all drowned.
The citizens no longer wanted to keep their word and did not want to pay the pied piper, so he went away angrily.
Some time later the Pied Piper came back disguised as a hunter while all the citizens were in the church ...
