Description
Once upon a time ... The dwarf village - the Efteling story
At a time when people still loved beautiful music,
once lived a king with his queen,
who ruled over a small but prosperous empire.
They had three beautiful daughters.
The whole family was musical
except for the youngest daughter, Estrella.
The king and queen gave the minister of happy affairs
the task of finding a music teacher for the daughter.
She should learn her do-re-mi-fa-so
as well as a few dance steps.
The Minister was sure
to find no one to help
so he decided to send the bell ringer instead.
This assigned the task of the gatekeeper,
who decided he wouldn't get any honor for it.
The gatekeeper reassigned the task
to the basket weaver,
who wanted to play for it.
He wandered from door to door and village to village
looking for a music teacher.
One fine day the basket weaver visited a dwarf village,
from which he heard the loveliest notes.
The dwarfs gave him a golden tuning fork,
with which he could enchant the youngest princess.
After that she danced gracefully and sang so beautifully
that tears rolled down your cheek.
The basket weaver was richly rewarded.
He was appointed the new Minister for Happy Affairs
and married Estrella.
