Description
Once upon a time ... a little table set yourself - the Efteling story
Once upon a time there was a tailor who had three sons.
One day the boys went out into the wide world to learn a trade.
The oldest wanted to be a carpenter, the middle miller and the youngest carpenter.
When the eldest son had studied with a teacher for three years, was
his training ended.
As a thank you, the boy received a wooden table.
When you said: "Set the table," delicious food appeared on the table.
On the way home the boy stayed in a hostel.
"Unfortunately, I have no more food for you," said the landlord.
"It doesn't matter," said the boy. "Set the table" ...
and the food was arranged.
When it was night, the envious landlord secretly exchanged the table.
At home the boy wanted to show his little table. “Set the table.” But nothing happened.
The training for the second son was also over.
As a thank you he got a donkey from his teacher. “If you say: donkey stretch, will
the donkey lift its tail and give you gold coins, ”said the master.
This son also stayed in the inn.
The landlord discovered how the boy got the gold coins.
At night he secretly exchanged the donkey.
The father didn't know what to do with his sons
should.
One claimed to have an enchanted table that
others an enchanted donkey. But nothing happened at all.
Disappointed, he wrote a letter to his youngest son.
He told his teacher what his father had written.
“I think the landlord stole your brothers. Here, this is my present. It
is a sack with a club in it. Say: Stick out of the bag, and that
Stick will give chasers a good beating.
Go home now. ”The boy set off.
On the way he stopped at the same inn.
Will he be able to teach the landlord a lesson with his gift?

- 1999 extension by hostel, new place for the magic stick
- Before Efteling there was a real hostel called De Ersteling, from which Efteling derived its name
