Once upon a time ... HANSEL AND GRETEL

At the edge of a large forest once lived a lumberjack with his wife
and two children, Hansel and Gretel.

One day they had no money left. "There is only one solution," said the lumberjack's wife.
"We bring Hansel and Gretel into the deep forest and set them there."

The man resisted, but the woman enforced her will.
She was not the right mother, but the stepmother of Hansel and Gretel.
Hansel had heard everything.
The following day, they set out with only a piece of bread to go on the way.
"Give me your bread fast, Gretel," whispered Hänsel. "I have a plan."
After some time they came to a clearing. "Take a rest here," the woman said.
"We'll be right back."
Of course, that was not true and after a long wait, Hansel and Gretel felt asleep.
When they woke up, it was night. "Come on, Gretel, we're going home," said Hansel.
But the birds had eaten all the bread crumbs! They got lost more and more.

Suddenly they saw a little house between the trees. The roof was made of pretzels and
almond biscuit, covered in chocolate, sour drops and colorful candies.
How delicious! Hansel was breaking a piece of gingerbread off when he heard a voice.
"Nibble, nibble, like a mouse,
Who is nibbling at my house?"

"Ah, my dear children, how come you here?
You must come indoors and stay with me, you will be no trouble."
They went in and immediately the door slammed shut behind them.
They were in the house of a wicked witch. "I'll have you there, I'll eat you up," she said to Hansel.
In the following weeks, Hansel sat in a cage and was fattened by the witch.
One day she thought it was time. "Turn on the stove, girl."
Gretel did as she was asked, but she made another plan ...

Will Hansel and Gretel ever return home?

3x knocking it says at the door of the wicked witch. Sometimes she just does not want to come out because she's too busy.
