About the Park
On 6 June 2008, the Sharjah Aquarium opened in Sharjah, about 30 kilometres north of Dubai, directly on the Persian Gulf. Sharjah / Sharjah is the third largest city in the United Arab Emirates and has a corresponding importance for the country. 6,500 square metres spread over 2 floors provide a home for around 100 animal species. As a visitor, you can explore the hidden and above all fascinating world of the deep sea with its amazing creatures. See local fish species up close and learn more about Sharjah's historic coasts and harbours. Amongst recreated coral reefs, lagoons and mangroves, you'll find beautiful clownfish and cute seahorses, but also moray eels and reef sharks.
