About the Park
Story Land first opened in 1954 under the name Story Town in Glen, near the city of Jackson in New Hampshire. However, due to a name conflict, the park was renamed “Story Land” in 1955. At the time of its opening, there was only one ride, an old fire truck called “Freddie the Fire Engine.” Otherwise, many German fairy tale characters were incorporated into appropriate stories. Over the years, the park has changed and more and more rides have been added. The park has several exclusive soundtracks that are played in the various themed areas. Most of this music was composed in the early 1990s by local composer Sharyn Ekbergh. With over 30 attractions, Story Land is primarily aimed at families with younger children. But “older” children can also enjoy the park with its several roller coasters. The wooden roller coaster dates from 2014.
At the time of its 50th anniversary, the park covered an area of approximately 14 hectares. It was operated by the family-run Morrell Corporation until 2007, before being taken over by Palace Entertainment. Palace Entertainment is a subsidiary of the Parque Reunidos Group, which also owns , Dutch Wonderland, and , among others. Since March 2025, the park has been owned by Herschend Family Entertainment, which also owns Silver Dollar City and , among others. The park will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2024.
