About the Park
It all began in 1960 on US Route 1 in Saco, Maine next to the mini-golf course that opened in 1959: a drive-in snack bar called Marvel Drive-In was built here. In 1967, Funtown USA was born and a Zipper ride was one of the park's first attractions. Funtown USA unveiled its first themed attraction in 1976 with the Astrosphere, a scrambler park ride. The first roller coaster in the state of Main came here in 1978. In May 1996, the then owner bought the Cascade Water and Amusement Park next to the park, and the entire park was subsequently renamed Funtown Splashtown USA. Today it is home to the park with 50 rides, water slides and pools. Funtown Splashtown is located approximately 160 kilometres from Boston.
