About the Park
In the US state of Illinois, or rather in Chicago, the third largest city in the United States and located on the south-west shore of Lake Michigan, you will find Lincoln Park Zoo, which opened in 1868. Covering an area of around 14 hectares, Lincoln Park Zoo is home to around 200 different animal species including mammals, amphibians, fish, reptiles, birds and insects. Around 850 plant species also grow in the zoo's park-like grounds, including over 100-year-old oak trees. This natural environment means that Lincoln Park Zoo's boardwalk, known as the Natural Boardwalk, is home to native species of birds, frogs, turtles, fish and insects. Open all year round, Lincoln Park Zoo is a worthwhile destination for all animal lovers, young and old, at any time of year.
