Description

MonteZOOMa: The Forbidden Fortress at Knott's Berry Farm is a legendary looping roller coaster that combines historical significance with state-of-the-art technology. Originally opened in 1978, the ride—located in the Fiesta Village theme area—is considered a true milestone in amusement park history. After being closed for several years and undergoing extensive modernization, this landmark celebrated its spectacular reopening in August 2026. The iconic track layout was preserved, but the ride experience was completely revolutionized. The old, mechanical flywheel system was replaced by a state-of-the-art, electromagnetic LSM drive. This propels the trains forward from a standstill with tremendous acceleration. The ride is embedded in a new, thrilling adventure story: Visitors enter a mysterious Aztec fortress in search of the lost gold of the ruler Montezuma. Even the queue captivates guests with themed elements and special effects. Along the track, the Aztec-themed train first shoots forward through a vertical loop and races up a vertical U-turn column. After a brief moment of weightlessness, the ride plunges completely backward into the depths, races through the loop again in reverse, and climbs a second column behind the station. This combination of forward and backward motion provides a brief but unforgettable adrenaline rush.
