About the Park
The Czech city of Zlín is located about 95 kilometres east of Brno. A few kilometres north of the city centre, on a large area of 74ha (of which 51ha is exhibition space), is Zlín Zoo, formerly also called Lešná Zoo. Originally opened in 1930, the zoo moved in subsequent years and was opened to the public in 1948. After Prague Zoo, it is the second most visited zoo in the Czech Republic. Its area is divided along the continents of Africa, Asia, America, Australia and "around the castle", and the approximately 200 animal species are assigned to their original habitat. You'll find antelopes and rhinoceroses in the African section, which also has pavilions dedicated to Ethiopia; in the Australian section you'll find kiwi birds and pelicans, which are unique in the Czech Republic; and in America you'll find sea lions.
