Zoo Liberec

The oldest zoological garden in the former Czechoslovakia is Liberec Zoo, which is only about 30 kilometres from the German border near Zittau. Its beginnings date back to the end of the 19th century, 1904 is considered the date of its creation and it was officially opened in 1919. Over 150 animal species are kept on an area of more than 14 ha. Particularly noteworthy are the breeding of Chinese golden takin and Chapman's zebras, as well as the 4 largest species of European owls. There are 1.8 km of circular walks for visitors, so that a visit to the zoo provides enough opportunities for 3 hours.
