Zoo Hluboká

The Ohrada Zoo was founded as early as 1939 on a private initiative. The Hluboká Zoo, which was renamed in 2015, is located only about 10 kilometres north of the famous city of Budweis on an area of 6 hectares. The zoo is home to well over 250 species and specialises in animals from the Czech Republic and the Palaearctic, including animals such as the brown bear, the European viper and the musk turtle. There is also an area with exotic animals such as the Mexican red-kneed tarantula, the Corsican fox and the fringed tortoise.
