About the Park
The Brno Zoo was opened in 1953, although an association for the establishment of a zoo had already been founded in 1935. The zoo is located in the north-west of the city of Brno and covers an extensive area of around 65 ha. The zoo is home to over 1,500 animals of more than 350 species, including reptiles, birds and mammals. Regular new buildings, such as the anaconda enclosure in the tropical world, regularly offer visitors new experiences. Zoo Brno participates in various conservation programmes to preserve endangered species, including the Sumatran tiger, the European gopher and one of the largest eagles on earth, the giant sea eagle.
Several webcams with live images are also available on the website for zoo enthusiasts who cannot actively visit the zoo.
