About the Park
The Olomouc Zoo is located near Olomouc, Czech Republic, halfway between Ostrava and Brno. When it was founded in 1956, the zoo covered an area of 25 hectares. It all began with a few stags, roe deer, and pheasants.
Today, the zoo has expanded to cover 42 hectares and is home to around 350 animal species. It is divided into several sections corresponding to the continents of today. While you can see the Rothschild’s giraffe in the Africa section, you can observe mouflons and bison in the Eurasia section. Olomouc Zoo has made a name for itself as one of the largest breeders of South African antelopes in Europe.
The park will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2026.
