Jangsaengpo Whale Museum

The Jangsaengpo Whale Museum in Ulsan is South Korea’s only whale museum and is one of the country’s best-known maritime attractions. It is situated in the historic harbour district of Jangsaengpo, which was once considered the centre of Korean whaling. Today, the museum uses modern and family-friendly methods to educate visitors about the history of whaling, the biology of marine mammals and the protection of the oceans. Visitors can explore impressive whale skeletons, historical exhibits, interactive learning stations and multimedia displays. In this way, the museum combines engaging education with a special experience for the whole family.

Since June 2026, the Jangsaengpo Whale Museum has offered another spectacular attraction: the CoasterKart ride developed by the German company Wiegand. On a track totalling 1,040 metres in length, visitors can drive independently through the attraction in ten individually designed vehicles modelled on various marine mammals. The CoasterKarts combine the thrill of a rollercoaster with the freedom of a self-driven vehicle. During the ride, guests pass numerous life-size whale exhibits and experience the maritime-themed world from a completely new perspective.

The new attraction adds an action-packed experience to the museum’s educational and leisure offerings, making a visit even more appealing, particularly for families, children and theme park enthusiasts.
