Zoo Barcelona

In 1892, less than 2 kilometres from Sagrada Familia and only a few hundred metres from the Balearic Sea, the Barcelona Zoo opened in Barcelona. On an area of 13 hectares, around 300 animal species and also around 300 plant species are exhibited to the visitors. The zoo is divided into several areas, for example Tera de Dragons with cormorants and muntjacs, Palmerar with birds such as laughing Hans and white cockatoos, or Galeria de Primats with different monkey species such as Barbary macaques or different mangabeys. A few years ago, Barcelona Zoo began a process of change that has made modernisation the main focus and continues to this day.
