Palmitos Park

The Palmitos Park botanical garden and animal park has been located in the holiday resort of Maspalomas in the south of the Canary Island of Gran Canaria since 1978. In addition to an orchid house, a cactus garden, the butterfly house, the aquarium and the dolphinarium, the park's 20-hectare grounds also contain a wide variety of enclosures. Hundreds of native and exotic animal species cavort in a unique natural environment. You can discover owls, reptiles, monkeys, meerkats, pelicans, birds, monitor lizards and much more. In 2007, a devastating fire broke out in Palmitos Park, destroying around 65 per cent of the park and claiming the lives of some of the animals. The park reopened just one year later. The highlights of a visit to Palmitos Park are the various animal shows such as the birds of prey show, the parrot show, the exotic bird flight show and, of course, the dolphin show. Palmitos Park is open all year round and is a popular excursion destination not only for tourists but also for locals.

Notes:

The park operates a dolphinarium. This form of keeping marine mammals is considered controversial and is banned in some countries. For reasons of objectivity, we list this park in the app. Please decide for yourself whether you would like to visit this park.
