Loro Parque

Loro Parque was opened in 1972 as a parrot park in Puerto de la Cruz, in the north of the Canary Island of Tenerife. On an area of more than 13ha, more than 500 animal species (including about 300 parrot species) are kept, about 100 of which have been reintroduced into the wild. In addition to large aviaries for birds, visitors can also visit the aquarium with underwater tunnel or take a detour to the penguinarium. In 2017-2019, Loro Parque was awarded the Travellers' Choice award, allowing it to call itself "best zoo in the world".
