About the Park
Faunia was opened in 2001 in the east of the Spanish capital Madrid, at that time still under the name Madrid Biological Park. Due to its proximity to the airport (about 10 kilometres away), the zoo is conveniently located and easy to reach. On an area of 14 hectares, animals from around 500 species can be experienced in different areas such as the African forest, the poles or the jungle. Emperor penguins can be admired here as well as the dangerous Nile crocodile or the colourful macaw.
Faunia is part of the Parques Reunidos group, which also includes parks such as , or .
