Swissminiatur

In Melide on Lake Lugano in the Swiss canton of Ticino, you will find Swissminiatur, which has been in operation since 1959. On an area of around 14,000 square metres, you will find over 130 models of various interesting buildings in Switzerland on a scale of 1:25, as well as various models of cogwheel, cable and suspension railways with a track length of around 3.5 kilometres. The only non-Swiss model, the walk-in Milan Cathedral, is certainly also impressive and is a reminder of the former connection between Ticino and the Duchy of Milan. In addition to the various models, you will of course also find a play park with various attractions and a self-service restaurant. The Swissminiatur is usually open seasonally from March to December and is a worthwhile excursion destination in the canton of Ticino. Thanks to its good location on the Gotthard line as well as on the A2 motorway and around 5 km south of Lugano on the Melide lake dam, Swissminiatur is easy to reach.
