About the Park
In Poland's fourth largest city, Łódź, the city's zoo has existed since 1938. According to its own information, it is the most modern zoo in Europe. Many hundreds of animal species are kept on an area of more than 16 hectares. Over the years, the zoo has been constantly expanded, for example in 2011 with a butterfly pavilion, an elephant house and a vivarium, a building in which amphibians and reptiles are presented. In addition to elephants, hippos and camels, special mention should be made of the Orientarium that gives it its name, which is the most modern pavilion in Europe dedicated to the fauna and flora of Southeast Asia. Buildings, runs and aviaries occupy an area of almost 10 football fields. The Orientarium houses 35 species of land animals and 180 species of fish.
