About the Park
With a population of over 780,000, Kraków is Poland's second largest city and the capital of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. Since 1929, the Fundacja Miejski Park i Ogród Zoologiczny w Krakowie, or Ogród Zoologiczny w Krakowie for short, has been located on the western edge of the city. With an area of around 20 hectares, it is one of the largest zoos in the country, housing over 250 animal species. In addition to large well-known animals such as elephants, tigers, lions and giraffes, the zoo is proud to breed the great condor. For children there is a mini-zoo and a small playground. But fish, reptiles, amphibians and birds can also be marvelled at in the zoo.
