About the Park
The Schmiding Zoo is located a few kilometres from Wels. Originally created from the Schmiding Bird Park, the zoo opened its doors for the first time in 1980. Animals from all over the world are presented on an area of almost 14 hectares. More than 150 species live in the Schmiding Zoo, which is divided into the Zoo and the Aquazoo. In the world's largest free-flight enclosure for birds of prey, visitors can expect exciting experiences with the vultures that live here, in the tunnelled tiger enclosure you can get very close to the Siberian tiger and in the gorilla bai you can see Austria's only gorilla. The facilities are rounded off with a 5D simulator in the aqua zoo and some playground equipment.
