Zoo Salzburg

In Anif, just a handful of kilometres south of Salzburg, lies Salzburg Zoo. Opened in 1961 as the "Alpenzoo ", it has also been called the zoo or Zoo over the years. The zoo itself is home to animals of around 150 species, divided into the thematic areas of Eurasia, Australia, Africa and America; thus the zoo is considered a so-called geozoo. On 14 hectares, there is enough space for the animals to meet the requirements of animal-friendly husbandry. Visitors will meet African zebra mongooses, South American two-footed sloths and Eurasian wolverines.
