About the Park
The Wieselburger Volksfest is a large and traditional folk festival in Wieselburg, Lower Austria, which takes place annually and offers an experience for the whole family. It is known for its mix of tradition and modernity and attracts tens of thousands of visitors.
Here are the typical features and highlights of the Wieselburg folk festival:
- Atmosphere: the festival is characterised by an exuberant atmosphere. It is a meeting place for young and old, with offers for all age groups.
- Event areas and attractions:
--> Amusement park (funfair): A large area with numerous rides for thrills and fun, from traditional merry-go-rounds to modern adrenaline rides.
Marquees and music stages: Various tents and stages offer a diverse music programme, ranging from folk music to party hits and modern beats. Well-known bands and DJs perform and ensure an exuberant party atmosphere.
--> Culinary delights: Numerous stalls offer a wide range of regional delicacies and international specialities. These include traditional grilled chicken, but also modern offerings such as tapas bars. Beer and spritzers in various flavours are also an integral part.
--> Traditional elements: The folk festival also cultivates old customs. One highlight is the legendary beer tapping, which traditionally marks the start of the festival. Competitions such as beer stein throwing also take place.
--> Family programme: There are special areas and activities for children and families, including children's rides, kids' stages with live acts, giant slides, sports to try out, workshops for kids, climbing and family challenges. There is also often an ‘AK family festival’ with additional fun and games stations.
--> Winemaker area: A separate area, often called ‘Winzerstadl’ or similar, where Austrian quality wines and Prosecco are offered, often accompanied by DJs and a relaxed lounge atmosphere.
--> Special shows and experiences: In recent years, new, spectacular shows have also been introduced time and again, such as acrobatic performances or the ‘Flying Fox’ over the Erlauf, which provide special experiences.
--> Mosticon: For comic, anime and cosplay fans, there is often a Mosticon with stands for merchandise, art and cosplay.
--> Admission: Admission may be charged for certain times and areas, but there are often free admission times, e.g. on Fridays and Saturdays until the afternoon and all day on Sundays. Discounts for schoolchildren, apprentices, military service personnel and pensioners are common. Children and young people often have free admission (up to a certain age).
Organisation: The Wieselburger Volksfest is organised by Messe Wieselburg.
The Wieselburger Volksfest is therefore not just a traditional Kirtag, but has developed into a multifaceted ‘folk festival’ offering entertainment for all tastes and all ages.
