About the Park
Since 1962, Innsbruck's Alpine Zoo has been captivating visitors with its exceptional location at an altitude of around 750 metres, making it one of the highest zoos in Europe. Less than 1.5 km from Innsbruck's old town, 5 hectares of space are available for animals of the alpine animal world. Around 150 animal species are kept in enclosures, aquariums and terrariums designed to be close to nature. In the world's largest cold-water aquarium you will find some very rare alpine fish species, crested newts can be marvelled at in the aqua-terrarium and the wallcreeper is the only zoo in the world to be housed here in the Innsbruck Alpine Zoo.
