About the Park
In beautiful Bergen aan Zee, right on the Dutch coast just before Texel, the Zee Aquarium opened in 1956—when Sea Life wasn’t even in the planning stages—on the grounds of the former Hotel Nassau. Over 350 species of fish live here in more than 850,000 liters of water. A special highlight is the skeleton of a sperm whale, which visitors can walk right underneath. The sperm whale washed ashore in 1998 and was subsequently meticulously preserved. Among other attractions, visitors can explore an Amazonian area featuring a bridge over piranhas and Mediterranean fish. There are also numerous reptiles from the Amazon jungle to marvel at.
