Oldenzaal (NL) - Kermis

The funfair in Oldenzaal, also known as the “Najaarskermis”, traditionally takes place on the last weekend in September.

The funfair covers several squares in the heart of Oldenzaal. The rides and stalls are set up on the Groote Markt, St. Plechelmusplein and in the Kerkstraat.

A special highlight of the Oldenzaal fair is the ‘prikkelarme kermis’ (low-stimulus fair). This takes place on Saturday from 12:00 to 14:00. During this time, the lighting and music of the attractions are dimmed to allow visitors who are sensitive to visual and acoustic stimuli (e.g. people with autism) to enjoy a pleasant visit to the fair.

The fair offers a variety of attractions for all age groups. The offerings range from classic rides such as bumper cars, breakdance and power surge to children's carousels, ghost trains and various games of skill and shooting galleries.

In addition to the rides, there are numerous stalls selling typical fairground treats. You can look forward to oliebollen (a type of doughnut), candy floss, nougat and various savoury snacks.

The funfair in Oldenzaal is considered a large and varied folk festival, which is an important attraction for the Twente region every year.
