Etten-Leur (NL) - Zomerkermis

The Zomerkermis Etten-Leur is one of the most important and most visited funfairs in the Dutch province of North Brabant. Covering an impressive area of around 25,000 square metres, the fair extends across the entire town centre, connecting various central squares such as the Oderkerkpark, the Raadhuisplein and the Markt to form a continuous entertainment district. Every year in July, the event attracts tens of thousands of visitors with a total of around 60 to 70 attractions and offers a variety that can often compete with the funfairs of much larger cities.

The atmosphere in Etten-Leur is characterised by an intense dynamism and the proverbial Brabant hospitality. Modern adrenaline-fuelled giants, towering up to 60 metres high, form a striking contrast to the historic backdrop of the town. The rides in Oderkerkpark are particularly spectacular, set among old trees, creating an almost surreal visual blend of nature and technology. In addition to the latest technical innovations in the fairground industry, there are also numerous traditional attractions such as the classic Ferris wheel, bumper cars and nostalgic carousels, making the fair a meeting place for all generations.

An essential feature of the Zomerkermis is its extensive culinary offerings, which are known beyond the country's borders. The smell of freshly prepared oliebollen, poffertjes and crispy churros wafts through the streets, while numerous terraces and snack stands invite visitors to watch the hustle and bustle while enjoying regional snacks and drinks. The fair is also often complemented by a varied supporting programme, ranging from live music performances by local bands to special family days. When the evening light show on the rides transforms the entire city centre into a sea of neon lights and music echoes across the squares, Etten-Leur becomes the lively epicentre of the region for a few days.
