Bergen op Zoom (NL) - Kermis

The fair in Bergen op Zoom is characterised above all by its deep historical roots and its two completely different locations. As the city is traditionally an important winter destination for many Dutch showman families, there is a particularly strong connection to the fairground tradition here, which goes far beyond simply setting up rides.

The Paaskermis takes place on the spacious grounds on the boulevard directly on the Binnenschelde. Here, a maritime atmosphere prevails, offering plenty of space for large, modern attractions, while the wind blows in from the water. In contrast, the Najaarskermis in autumn transforms the historic Grote Markt into a cosy sea of lights. Amidst the magnificent old façades and in the shadow of the impressive Markiezenhof city palace, the colourful fairground hustle and bustle almost feels like a journey through time.

This combination of modern action on the waterfront and nostalgic flair in the heart of the city makes Bergen op Zoom one of the most versatile fairground locations in North Brabant. The culinary tradition of freshly baked oliebollen and typical Brabant hospitality in particular ensure that the festival feels like a big family reunion.
