About the Park
In north-east England in the city of York, at 12 Clifford Street, the second dungeon of its kind, The York Dungeon, was opened in 1986 after the London Dungeon. A thrilling combination of horror show and history lesson, the approximately 75-minute interactive walking tour brings 2,000 years of York's darkest history to life before your eyes. During the tour of the 10 stations, professional actors re-enact scenes from the time of the mighty Vikings, get to know York's most notorious personalities, such as Guy Fawkes, who attempted to assassinate King James I in London on November 5, 1605 with an explosive device and the witch Isabella Billington, one of 564 witches and sorcerers sentenced to death and executed in York between 1379 and 1879. Since you can also be there live, how justice is done, tortured and executed, one or the other of you will be more in the middle of it than just there. Of course, you will also experience what it was like when the plague swept over York in 1511 and bizarre methods were used by the plague doctors. Visiting the York Dungeon is recommended for children aged 10 and over. Ready for this history lesson with no boring books, but plenty of scary moments and hard-hitting facts?
