Lakes Aquarium

Opened in 1997 as The aquarium of the lakes, the Lakes Aquarium, renamed in 2008, shows fish from all over the world. It is located on the west side of the Windermere in Lakeside, about 45 kilometres by car north of Lancaster and about 90 kilometres north of . On two floors, animals from the respective areas - for example, the rainforest, Asia, Africa or the beach - are shown. This starts with piranhas from the Amazon and goes on to clown fish, otters, frogs and axolotls. The large glass tunnel, which leads past rays, sharks and turtles just a few centimetres below the water basin, adds to the excitement.
