Knowsley Safari Park

The Knowsley Safari Game and Safari Park, opened by Edward Stanley, 18th Earl of Derby, and Jimmy Chipperfield in July 1971, is located in Prescot, about 13 miles (approx. 21 km) east of Liverpool city centre. The 220-hectare site is home to over 700 animals, including African lions, Amur tigers, giraffes, ostriches and zebras. In your own vehicle, you can drive past various animals on the approx. 5-mile (approx. 8 km) safari drive and observe them at close range and in an almost natural environment. If you are worried about your vehicle and would rather not drive past the baboons, you can take the alternative route and drive around the primates. If you still don't want to miss the primates, you can take the Knowsley Safari Park's Baboon Bus to get very close to the monkeys. You can then continue on foot on the Foot Safari, passing Amur tigers, meerkats, giraffes and sea lions. But Knowsley Safari has even more to offer than just the many different animals: Of course, there are also various food stalls and restaurants as well as a small amusement park with over ten rides for younger visitors. Knowsley Safari is open all year round and is a great day out destination that many Brits will recognise from the Channel 4 series "Secret Life of the Safari Park".
