Blackpool Zoo

Zoo is located on the outskirts of the holiday and tourist resort of , just a few kilometres from the theme park. Since its opening in 1972, the zoo has grown to an area of 13 hectares (37 hectares including parks) and has been expanded in recent years. In addition to crowd pullers such as orangutans, elephants or the playful otters, Zoo is also home to lemurs, reptiles and giraffes. The zoo is particularly proud of the only gorilla family in the north of England and the largest single investment of the zoo, the Elephant Base Camp project from 2018 with a herd of 6 elephants. An exact number of species is not disclosed, but there are said to be over 1,000 animals living here.
