Planète Sauvage

On the French Atlantic coast in the west of France, in the municipality of Port-Saint-Père in the Département de la Loire-Atlantique, about twenty kilometres southwest of Nantes, you will find the Planète Sauvage Zoo and Safari Park. Opened in 1992 with about 500 animals and under the name Safari Africain, the park, previously renamed Planète Sauvage in 1998, was taken over by the European amusement park chain Looping-Group in 2015 and continues to operate under the same name today. On the approximately ten-kilometre-long safari route, which you can drive through in your own car or in one of the Planète Sauvage safari buses, you will pass through the five continents and their respective animal species. You will meet over 1,000 animals from around 150 species, such as bears, bison, elephants, hippos, cheetahs, giraffes, lions, rhinos, wolves, wadussi cattle and zebras. Since 2009, Planète Sauvage has also been home to one of the two dolphinaria currently existing in France, where nine bottlenose dolphins are currently kept and where breeding has already been successful several times. If you feel hungry after the exciting safari, you will certainly be well catered for at one of the seven snack bars and restaurants in the park. Every year, more than 300,000 visitors of all ages visit the Planète Sauvage Zoo and Safari Park and spend unforgettable hours on the 80-hectare grounds of the Planète Sauvage.
