About the Park
In the French municipality of Lussault-sur-Loire in the canton of Amboise and about thirty minutes by car from the university city of Tours, you will find the Grand Aquarium de Touraine, which opened in 1994 under the name Aquarium du Val de Loire and has been operated by the European theme park chain Group since 2011. With a total area of 5000 square metres and 70 aquariums with a capacity of around 2 million litres, you will find around 12,000 animals in around 300 species. In the large freshwater aquarium with water from the Loire, you will find salmon, sturgeon, perch, carp and mullet as well as the largest predatory fish in cold freshwater, the catfish, which can be up to 2.5 metres long. In the tropical section of the Grand Aquarium de Touraine you will also find poison dart frogs, piranhas or spectacled caimans, while in the marine section you can also admire clown fish, pallet doctor fish, seahorses, turtles or even sharks. Every year, more than a quarter of a million visitors, young and old, from near and far, visit the Grand Aquarium de Touraine.
