France Miniature

In the French municipality of Élancourt in the Yvelines department, about 25 kilometres west of the French capital Paris, you will find the France Miniature play and adventure park, built in 1991. On the 5-hectare site, which has the outline of the map of France and attracts around 200,000 visitors a year, you will find various rides such as Butterfly, Luna , Nautic-Jet, cable car, Free-Fall-Tower and a small indoor area as well as a replica of Fort Boyard, a fortress off the French Atlantic coast, which became famous mainly because of the TV game show Fort Boyard. On an approximately five-kilometre-long rail network that criss-crosses the park, 17 model railways such as the TGV high-speed train or the Corail express train are in operation. In the 1: 30 scale, you will also find scale models of famous French cultural monuments such as the Roman amphitheatre of Arles, the fortified church of Mont-Saint-Michel, the castles of Chenonceau, Chambord and Versailles, the Eiffel Tower, the Garabit Viaduct, Le Corbusier's church of Ronchamp, the Stade de France and the Colleville American Cemetery, where more than 9,000 fallen US soldiers from the Normandy Landings of 6 June 1944 are buried.
