Amiens (F) - Foire de St. Jean

The Foire de la Saint-Jean in Amiens is one of the largest and most traditional funfairs in the whole of northern France, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. This colourful and lively spectacle takes place against the expansive backdrop of the Parc de la Hotoie, which is situated to the west of the city centre and is transformed into a vibrant world of entertainment for the duration of the fair. With around 180 rides, games booths and food stalls, the fair offers a wide variety of entertainment for all ages. Thrill-seekers will be in their element on spectacular, dizzying rides, whilst classic Ferris wheels, ghost trains and lovingly designed children’s carousels lend the event a family-friendly charm. The fair is also a real institution when it comes to food: alongside sweet fairground treats such as freshly baked waffles, crispy churros, candyfloss and glazed toffee apples, the legendary ‘L’Ours Noir’ rotisserie, with its hearty grilled specialities, is a particular crowd-puller. As parking spaces directly at the fairground are very limited, visitors are strongly advised to travel stress-free using the city’s bus network or to make use of the park-and-ride facilities on the outskirts of the city.
