About the Park
The Hof Zoological Garden is located in Hof, Upper Franconia, in the north-east of the Free State of and not far from the Theresienstein civic park. What began as an aquarium exhibition in 1954, was later expanded into a small animal zoo and then completely remodelled into a zoo for the 1994 State Garden Show, is now one of the most popular excursion destinations in Hof and attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. Covering an area of around two hectares, the Hof Zoological Garden is home to around 600 animals of around 100 species. While visitors can marvel at free-flying birds and other savannah dwellers in the savannah house, the nocturnal animal house is home to fox cougars, brush-tailed rat kangaroos and bats. While you can get up close to kangaroos in the walk-through Australian enclosure or marvel at the colourful cockatoos, pets from all over the world await a visit in the stables of the adventure farm. The zoo café serves delicious food and drinks. The Hof Zoological Garden is open all year round and offers all animal lovers and those who want to become one a great day out in Hof in Upper Franconia.
