About the Park
In 1965, the vivarium in Darmstadt was opened at its current location. It is named after the aquarium and terrarium hall, which also contains a large part of the biodiversity. Although the vivarium is one of the small zoos in Germany with an area of around 4 hectares, it is home to almost 200 animal species. The breeding programs for the Vasa parrots and the crocodile-tailed lizard are particularly noteworthy.
