About the Park
The Schwerin Zoo opened in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's state capital Schwerin in 1956. With an area of around 25 hectares, it is one of the medium-sized zoos in Germany and is home to around 150 animal species. The natural 3-hectare water bird facility, which is located in the center of the zoo, is characteristic. In addition to an African enclosure with giraffes and zebras, there is also a large rhinoceros enclosure.
