About the Park
The Rostock Zoological Garden was opened in Rostock in 1899 on a large area of 56 hectares. Due to its area, it can present a huge number of different animal species and is therefore also the largest zoo on the German Baltic Sea coast. The zoo, which was named "Europe's best zoo" a few years ago, is home to orangutans, polar bears and penguins. The additional knowledge offers in the Darwineum and the Polarium are also very important.
