About the Park
In Hoyerswerda, Saxony, in the district of Bautzen, you will find Hoyerswerda Zoo, which was opened in 1959 in the immediate vicinity of the castle. Covering an area of six hectares, the zoo is home to around 1000 animals from 120 species. In addition to European brown bears, Asian Bactrian camels and Chinese leopards, South American emperor moustached tamarins and squirrel monkeys, you will also find African Chapman's zebras and Cuban rhomboid crocodiles in the tropical hall. Hoyerswerda Zoo is a good 35 kilometres from Cottbus and around 55 kilometres from the state capital of Dresden.
