About the Park

The Zerbst Heritage and Shooting Festival is one of the most traditional and longest-running folk festivals in Saxony-Anhalt. It is a combination of a shooting festival and a heritage festival that celebrates the history and community of the town of Zerbst/Anhalt.

The festival is characterised by a mixture of tradition, shooting and a folk festival atmosphere:

- Horse and riding tournaments: A central part of the festival are the extensive riding, jumping and driving tournaments, which take place at the Ziegenberge tournament ground, the dressage arena on Magdeburger Straße and in the castle gardens. Here you can watch competitions up to class S.

- Folk festival fun: On the festival grounds, especially on the festival meadow and at the Schloßfreiheit, you will find an amusement park with various rides and stalls.

- Shooting: The Schützengilde Zerbst 1397 e.V. shooting club plays an important role with prize shooting and the proclamation of the shooting kings.

- Music and entertainment: There is live music, dance evenings (e.g. 80s and 90s parties) and morning pints in the festival tent and beer gardens.

- Culinary delights: Typical folk festival offerings as well as special promotions such as pork knuckle dinner in the Schloßfreiheit beer garden.

- Family day: Wednesday is family day with reduced prices at the festival grounds and a children's day with a colourful programme in the morning.

- Special events: There are raffles and prize draws, and on Tuesday (29 July) the showmen offer special rides for people with disabilities.

- Cultural offerings: The festival often includes cultural events such as musical afternoons in the town hall or special castle tours that provide insights into the castle, the castle cellars and the princely apartments.
