About the Park
In the south of the Hanover region, or rather on district road 213 in Springe, about 29 km from Hildesheim and about 28 km from Lower Saxony's capital Hanover, you will find the Wisentgehege Springe. The 90-hectare site, which opened its doors for the first time in 1928 and is maintained by the Lower Saxony State Forests, is home to around 109 animal species. In addition to bison, you'll find eagles, brown bears, elk, the European wolf, lynx, mouflon, Przewalski's horses, wolverines and wild boar. The Wisentgehege Springe originated from a conservation breeding of bison and is now also used for breeding other highly endangered game species. The various facilities at the Wisentgehege Springe, such as the Falkenhof (falconry), which opened in 2002, or the wolf enclosure, make it particularly suitable for environmental education. The Wisentgehege Springe is a worthwhile destination in the Hannover Region for young and old.
