Wildwald Vosswinkel

In Arnsberg in the Sauerland region of North Rhine-Westphalia, 33 km east of Iserlohn and 15 km south of Lake Möhne, lies the Vosswinkel Wildlife Park, which was founded in 1970 in the Arnsberg district of Vosswinkel. The 600-hectare site, of which around 250 hectares are accessible to visitors, is home to 17 different animal species. In addition to fallow deer, red deer and wild boar, the park is home to mouflon, raccoons, raccoon dogs, squirrels, eagle owls and tawny owls. Livestock breeds such as sheep, pigs and goats are also kept on the historic Haarhof farm in the wild forest. Nature conservation is very important to the private Vosswinkel Wild Forest, which is why the wild forest is only managed to a certain extent. This has already led to the return of rare animal species such as the black stork, raven, honey buzzard and woodpecker species. Voßwinkel is also one of the ten most important stag beetle sites in Germany. In 2007, a natural climbing garden with a height of up to 16 meters was opened and a barefoot trail in 2008. The Vosswinkel Wild Forest is an ideal excursion destination for young and old. Open all year round, it offers the opportunity to experience nature and its inhabitants in all four seasons.
