Wildpark Johannismühle

The Johannismühle Wildlife Park, opened in 1997, is located in Klasdorf in Brandenburg, 40 km east of Jüterbog, directly on the B96 federal highway. Over 500 animals from 50 different species live on the 100-hectare site, which is steeped in history. The Johannismühle watermill was built here in 1730 and the site was used for hunting pheasants and wild boar, among other things. Towards the end of the Second World War, the Soviet armed forces occupied the site and used it as a special hunting ground for the High Command of the Soviet Armed Forces after the end of the war. In 1994, after lengthy negotiations, it was decided to convert the area into a game park. Red deer and mouflon live on around 80 percent of the area. The wildlife park is also home to fallow deer, red deer and wild boar, bison, Heck cattle, Przewalski's horses, Koniks, gray and polar wolves, lynx and various former circus animals such as brown bears, and in the past even tigers and lions. Ospreys, sea eagles, eagle owls, snowy owls and many other bird species can be seen in the aviaries. At the birds of prey show, falconers show off their birds of prey and explain the differences between vultures, eagles, buzzards etc. The various tours make Johannismühle Wildlife Park an excursion destination for young and old.
