About the Park
Assumption Day is Warendorf's traditional local festival in summer. The Christian tradition of devotion to the Virgin Mary, the Assumption Fair and the town marksmen's festival are unique in the world. The highlights of the popular Marian devotion are the procession and the ceremonial illumination of the nine Marian arches, which are erected year after year by the arch communities. They flank the route of thousands of pilgrims and visitors who repeatedly make their way to the old Hanseatic city. The old festival has long since arrived in the present. While red candles bathe the city in subdued light to the sounds of Marian hymns, the funfair is a hive of activity: Numerous amusement rides and rides as well as numerous food stalls await you on the Lohwall meadows with dazzling fairground action.
