About the Park
In Osterloog, a district of Norden in Lower Saxony's East Frisia, you will find the Whale Museum, which is part of the National Park House Seal Station.
In the Waloseum, just 5 km from the Norddeich seal station, you can see the 15-metre-long skeleton of a sperm whale bull that stranded off Norderney in 2003 and gain fantastic impressions of the realm of whales and dolphins in the “Experience underwater worlds” exhibition. Other exhibition areas about the inhabitants of the North Sea coast invite visitors to inform themselves, touch and participate. On the upper floor, the diverse bird life of the North Sea coast and the unique habitat of the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea is presented. In the area of the seal station in the Waloseum, small seals and sometimes grey seals are given seasonal veterinary care and observed in the quarantine station before they are brought to the seal station with the other animals. Other seal stations are located in Norddeich, also in Norden, and in Friedrichskoog in Schleswig-Holstein.
