About the Park
The Heiligenkirchen Bird Park is located in Detmold between Lemgo and Paderborn. Specialising in exotic birds and small mammals, the park has been in existence since 1969. 300 species of animals live here on an area of around 4 ha. In addition to a walk-in aviary with over 200 parakeets that can be fed, there are several large outdoor enclosures. From the largest bird in the world, the helmeted cassowary, to the smallest chicken in the world, visitors can enjoy an extensive array of birds here. The petting meadow is particularly popular, where you can have tame parrots put on your arm and pet them.
